Description

WR 136 is a Wolf-Rayet star of the rare spectral type WN6. It is the central star of the Crescent Nebula NGC 6888. WR-stars repel large amounts of matter as stellar winds into the environment, with the core being exposed over time. The strong radiation accelerates the stellar wind to high speeds (up to 4000km/s). This nebula was created by such a stellar wind.
Again I am delighted with the accuracy of the Star Analyser. All lines of the spectral type WN6 are exactly where they belong. In contrast to most other stars, instead of the usual absorption lines, these are "emission lines". The color of the star is more in the direction of purple/pink (you can see it on the spikes and in the spectrum). Giant stars of this rare type are about to end their life cycle in a gigantic supernova explosion.
I slightly blended the nebula from an image from last year over the spectral image.

In "Rev B" you can see the profile with the cropped grating image on top.
In "Rev C" you can see the RAW spectral image.
